Final CAD Work

With the issue of documentation settled, all that remained was to keep adjusting the CAD model until it fit the drawings. In these 3 images, you can see that the outline of our CAD model matches the drawings very precisely.

I scanned some much larger drawings at 600 dpi, and inserted them into the "plan holders", to achieve more accuracy. Then, the final adjustments on the exterior of the CAD model could be made.

At this point in the process, the exterior design of our CAD model was "frozen" dimensionally. In other words, it was "locked", to insure that nothing changed when it was transferred later to paper.

Each of the aircraft that Paul and I are modeling include all the modifications by Raisbeck Engineering that enhance the actual aircraft's performance. These items, such as the twin ventral fins at the tail, and the extended engine nacelle lockers were added to the CAD model. The titles on the image are just for fun.

With the exterior done, the next step was to be sure that all the radio equipment, engines, tanks, servos, and scale interior parts would fit into the model. They do, with plenty of room to spare, since this is a rather large model, at 1/6th scale.
